Catholic opposition was high... Rutherford needed bodyguards. Threats and violence in the streets were commonplace due to Rutherford's outspokenness towards the clergy and the organization's stand for neutrality amidst a World War. Listen to the Society's lawyer Hayden Covington about one such story. Covington also tells about one man who kidnapped his Witness son with a view to having him abducted into the U.S. Army. RealAudio
